Bunnell Street Gallery
is a non-profit educational orginization for performances and exhibitions
of contemporary art in all media. The Gallery exhibits month-long shows
which demontstates a commitment to fine arts and crafts and advance public
understanding and an appreciation of art.
The annual exhibition deadline is October 31. Exhibitions are scheduled six months to one and a half years in advance.
In order to consider
your work for exhibition we require a letter of application, an artist's
statement, resume and five slides of your work. Please do not send any
more than five slides. Application volume in previous years has made it
necessary for us to limit the number of slides we can jury. It is helpful
if you suggest, in order of preference, your top three month's of choice
for exhibiton.
Artists are encouraged
to apply for collaborative, shared and invitational exhibition formats
as well as solo shows. If you are applying for a shared show of your own
design, we require information that is inclusive of all applicants including
a letter of proposal. If you are willing to exhibit your work in a format
other than "solo" please indicate this in your letters of application.
You may be contacted for inclusion in an invitational/group show. While
exhibitions of less than one month are not usual, we welcome applications
for alternative formats.
The gallery retains
a 40% commision on artwork sales in the front exhibition area. Artwork
on exhibit need not be fore sale.
Exhibiting artists
are encouraged to become gallery members at a $30 minimum membership level
or higher. This will help underwrite the cost of our mailings.
As an educational
organization, the Gallery requires that the artist provides a slide lecture
with a question and answer session following, on the evening of the opening
reception.
For exhibtions, the
gallery will provide: assistance with installation, title cards, a reception
with wine, regular gallery hours for public viewing of the exhibition,
and publicity including a state-wide mailing of 1000 announcements.
Please provide a
self-addressed, stamped envelope for return of your application materials.
